Speckle Park Cattle bringing purpose to the paddock

BackTrack Youth Works has welcomed a herd of Speckle Park cattle from Gotcha Park to its Cubba Cubbah farm, where young participants will care for and manage them, building skills, responsibility and connection as part of BackTrack’s hands-on training and support programs.

The initiative was made possible through the generosity of The Phil Taylor Foundation, which purchased 25 head of cattle for BackTrack — a number that quickly grew to 28, thanks to three expectant mums in the herd.

The cattle, sourced through the Gotcha Speckle Park initiative, are now part of daily life on the farm, where participants learn animal care, land management and the responsibilities that come with real work. For many young people in BackTrack’s programs, working with the cattle builds confidence, routine and a strong sense of purpose.

The project has also been beautifully captured by Pressroom’s Moving Stories team, whose video — featuring stunning drone footage — brings the farm, the cattle and the impact of the program to life.

Together, the cattle, the support behind them and the stories they generate are helping BackTrack create meaningful pathways for young people to thrive.
